Dear Home Free fosters, volunteers, and advocates This is Abigail. The full photo of her was taken about a year ago. Abigail was a rescue HFAR pulled a couple years ago saving her from the needle just in time. I fostered her and adopted her out to a family friend. Her previous owner had listed her surrender due to health issues. Her adopter also had some health issues, and I took her back for the time being. This past summer, I had a lengthy hospital stay. My girlfriend agreed to foster Abigail and my male kitty Leo while I was away, but she lets her cats in and out while I always kept them indoors. It was my only option at the time. Leo adjusted very well, but Abigail went missing for two months. We put up posters and called all local shelters and vets. She had tags and a microchip. I got several calls for sightings, but no results. By the time she returned on her own, she weighed five pounds (previously weighing 8-9) was terrified, and clearly malnourished. I brought her to Kennilworth Boulevard Vet, where they examined her and did some blood tests. Less than two days later, I found two engorged ticks on her. I called the vet and the tests were clean, but she suggested an additional red and white blood cell test, which I brought her in for. Things seemed to be going okay, but she started vomiting daily. I brought them a stool test, nothing was found. Brought her in again to the same clinic, different vet, who gave her some medication for the stomach issues. I have been to the vet quite a few times, which I have no problem with for this sweet little thing, but now I see this on her chin (which let me say looks much worse in the photo actually). She had had a bump on her chin, and maybe I went to a not so great vet, but Im just pondering what it could be and how they couldve missed it. Anyone have any experience and might know what it could be? It was like covered in fur before, and I didnt see how bad it looked until now. Does anyone have any suggestions as to who I should bring her for medical attention? My heart is breaking for her....she doesnt seem to be bothered by it at all however. Any input is much appreciated!!
