Dear Katy ISD Parents, Staff and Community, Please be advised that all Katy ISD campuses and school facilities will be closed, Tuesday, January 28 due to hazardous weather conditions projected by the National Weather Service and the Districts contracted meteorologist. All school activities and events will be canceled or rescheduled to another day. Among the considerations for closing schools and facilities include the uncertainty and timing of the impending weather along with time to respond. The District also takes in to consideration those students that drive or walk to school in freezing rain and unsafe road conditions for school buses. The Harris County Emergency Manager, Judge Emmett, has also recommended that residents stay off the roads. Essential employees will be notified by their supervisor should they need to report to the District during the day. The District will continue to watch the weather closely throughout the day and although a final determination has not been made for Wednesday, we anticipate all campuses and school facilities, including before-school programs, will operate during regular school hours on Wednesday, January 29. The District will provide an update no later than 6:00 p.m. tomorrow regarding Wednesday’s activities.
