Dear Minds of the RF Appreciation Society. Thank you for allowing me to join the group. I am a UK born, but US based filmmaker who is currently finishing a short film called The Royal Road To Romance. It is about 15 minutes long and it follows a 15-year-old on his quest to become the greatest lover in the history of the world. From a stylistic point of view, the movie has been executed to feel like a heartwarming comedy from the 1940s - Lubitsch-esque if you will. I am at the stage where I am attempting to score the movie and if possible, I am hoping to use period correct music. I have discovered that the works of Sidney Torch are largely available from certain music libraries and a considering using works on by him to score the film as it feels like an authentic experience to use the works of a single composer and works from the time. SO, my question to you all is... are there any other composers, like Sidney and Robert that I should be looking at. AND in particular, are the any of these composers where people are aware who controls their estate? In my ideal situation I would make a deal with one of these estates and be able to give the composer the Music Composed By (or similar) credit on the film. I am the creative director and owner of dirtyrobber and have made a number of short films before. One of the films, buzkashiboys was nominated for the Best Live Action Short at the 2013 Academy Awards. I appreciate you all taking the time to read this and hope that there may be some answers to be had. Yours, Martin Desmond Roe
