Dear Minister [Northern Ireland] I write to you today primarily - TopicsExpress

Dear Minister [Northern Ireland] I write to you today primarily on behalf of our Ulster based veterans, but also on behalf of those members of our party who served much time in Ulster sacrificing much not forgetting those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in a 40 year war against the IRA. By the very nature of the war in Ulster there remains a disproportionate amount of veterans within that community who are almost exclusively loyalist. Since our inception some 6 months ago members have been drawing our attention to a number of issues in Ulster which appear, to us, to be a concerted effort to destroy loyalism and the loyalist way of life. I have to say, after reviewing the evidence provided there does appear to be a case for this view. By way of an example, we the have loyalists on remand for alleged petty cases whilst a court in London grants bail for somebody charged with the Hyde park bombing. We have the bomber Gerry Kelly facilitated with a police landrover to address a republican crowd who were clearly attacking a loyalist march which had been "kettled", a tactic which I understand has been outlawed on the mainland. We wrote some months ago asking Mr Baggott why he had apologised for the Finucane murder he has not replied. We asked because there remains no direct evidence of collusion in this case, and goes someway to evidence Mr Baggotts pro republican stance. It is our contention that the PSNI should be policing without fear or favour and that is certainly not the case at this time. Will the minister undertake to enter dialogue with us on behalf of our members ? Yours sincerely Sean Ingram Chairman The Veterans Party
