Dear Mr. Mayor, I am a voter and worked very hard to pass the pets trust initiative. It passed by almost 67% of the vote. You are quoted in today’s Herald as saying “I’m hearing from people who say they would have voted NO had the ballot question been binding”. Whoever said that is a fool and you should not listen to them. Why would anyone vote YES on a straw ballot and NO on the same question if binding? The progress of society takes courage from those in a position to effect change. Especially when backed by the people’s vote. I am very disappointed in your decision. Very.
