Dear Mr. President and Congressmen, I want to express my complete outrage with you. My father, who never woke up without the love for his country at the top of his list passed away recently. This man grew up as an army brat, the son of a man who fought three wars for this country. He then joined the military, becoming an officer, and served faithfully, until his 20th year, when a stroke made him medically unfit to serve any longer. After fighting to return to a physically capable being, he began participating in many volunteer military organizations to pass his wisdom on to other young soldiers who love their country and felt the same sense of honor, duty, and loyalty he always had. My father may not have died in battle (thank God), but yet he still gave his life to this great nation of ours through his service and sacrifice. Did it really save you so much money by not sending the full military detail to his funeral, and by dishonoring his memory. My father, if anyone, deserved a 21 gun salute. If this country continues down the path you gentlemen have started us on, God be with us, because no American GI will be there ready to defend it.
