Dear Parents: Child A and Child B situation. For several weeks, - TopicsExpress

Dear Parents: Child A and Child B situation. For several weeks, Child A (and a couple of cronies) continually do many small but relatively spiteful things to Child B. Scribbles on his work, tramples on his sandcastles, slaps him across the back, namecalls, “baby” etc. Child B mainly reacts by getting upset and sulking on his own, he is not a “tell to the teacher” kind of child. Likes his own company but generally quite a popular boy. When Child B does react (mainly by shouting) Child A and certainly one of the friends, are very quick to run to the teacher claim complete innocence and enjoy watching Child B be reprimanded. Child B does not point out he was being provoked as he does not like to see others get in trouble. Nothing that Child A does seems to be quite that serious enough to warrant teacher intervention, but it is constant picking on and making fun of Child B. After a few weeks, today Child A and one friend came over to Child B, one slapped him on the back, and the other jumped on the thing he had been making all lunch hour out of twigs. Child B loses the plot, and goes wandering off. Child A and the friend are already running towards a teacher, knowing they have done wrong but wanting to get there first before Child B can say anything. Child B however, has gone and grabbed a rock to chase Child A with shouting Im going to hit you. This is all the teacher witnesses. Child B gets put on report with the comment that if he had indeed hit Child A he would have been excluded, Child A and friend are in no trouble at all. Child B is questioned about what on earth he was doing running to another child holding a rock, and he cries saying “I just wanted to scare them, they pick on me all the time, it’s not fair” Can I have your comments on what you would do please? Child B is one of my closest friend’s children, same age as Joshie. I can not give her unbiased advice as all I can see is how upset she is and I think she’s very right to be. I am quite willing to be told we are both wrong though and will happily take onboard everyones thoughts, before she goes into the school and makes a fool of herself x x x
