Dear Parents Our annual Wembley Golf Day is fast approaching and we need your support to make this a successful event. Letters have been sent home regarding costs and sponsorship. The field is filling up so everyone who wants to play needs to get their registration form in. Time slots are on a first-come first-serve basis, so if you are looking to tee off at a specific time, register as a matter of urgency. Our High School scholars write Cambridge external examinations which can be written either in June or in November. With the decision to extend our scholars to A Levels in their matric year, we have had to make slight adjustments to the examination timetable. Our current Form 4 class therefore wrote their IGCSE Mathematics examination during the June sitting this year, rather than at the end of the year. To achieve this we had to complete the IGCSE Mathematics syllabus early in the year to allow the scholars and teachers revision time. We were a little nervous about receiving our results yesterday, but what a treat we were in for. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FORM 4 CLASS FOR ALL PASSING AND ACHIEVING A 77.1% CLASS AVERAGE FOR IGCSE MATHEMATICS. Well done to Kyra Wallace who was the top Wembley scholar with 95%, and to Emma Porée who came a close second with 90%. Overall, there were 2 A*s, 3 As, 8 Bs and 3 Cs. Congratulations to Mrs van Zuydam and the family on the birth of their new baby girl, Rachel. Mom and daughter are home and doing well. On Monday, Mr Wolmarans was rushed through to MediClinic as a precautionary measure as he had chest pains. After being admitted and a barrage of tests being run, the clinic was able to establish that he had acute pneumonia. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and is expected to spend the whole week in hospital. Our prayers and thoughts are with Mr Wolmarans and his family; we wish him a speedy recovery. Please diarise Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September to come and enjoy our Founders’ Day celebrations with us. The annual Go-Kart races will form part of the celebrations. Get your Go-Karts ready! Lost property has been displayed in the ‘quad’ for the past two weeks. We will be putting it all out once more next week after which it will be removed and a suitable home found for it. Please make an effort to come and have a look at the lost property to see if any of your children’s clothing is there. ANDREW NORRIS HEADMASTER
