Dear SGHS Matadors Class of ‘83, Some classmates had questions - TopicsExpress

Dear SGHS Matadors Class of ‘83, Some classmates had questions regarding our 30th Class Reunion. Below is a list of questions we’ve been frequently asked: What does the cost included? Dinner, memento, picture gallery montage (viewed at the reunion), reunion event video, reunion photo shots, copy of proclamation and door prize ticket. Why in the month of August? This was a request from several of our classmates - stay away from our children’s school sports season. We chose the early part of August before school resumed in mid and/or late part of August. Why Temecula? Couldn’t the committee find a location closer to San Gabriel? 1. We visited several venues and took into account the recommendations from our classmates but either it was too expensive and/or we didn’t have the required liability insurance. 2. As well, we wanted a location that was elegant to show that we the SGHS Class of ’83, has come along way in the last 30 years. 3. We had a GREAT 20th Reunion in Long Beach and we didn’t attend school Long Beach either. What other venues did the committee check into? San Gabriel Hilton – Cost $140 pp (parking is hectic) San Gabriel Grape Vine – cost $135 pp (no music after 10 PM) Double Tree Pasadena & Arcadia – cost $160 pp Alhambra Court Yard – cost $125 pp Embassy Suites in Arcadia – cost $115 pp Santa Anita Race Track – never got back to us and had a hard time meeting the coordinator Why didn’t you go with a reunion company? We wanted to make it personal and help reduce the cost. Reunion companies would not allow us to hire our own DJ and photographer (we choose from their own vendors). As well, several other former SG Alumni recommended we not hire a reunion company – breach of contract, too expensive, and bad reviews… Do you know that the cost of our 10th and 20th reunions? Approximately: 10th Reunion at the Double Tree $70 pp and 20th Reunion at Long Beach $90 pp Class of ’83 Reunion vs. Boat Reunions Our Boat reunions have been very successful (big Thank you to Nick Dominguez)! However, this is dedicated to the Class of 1983 - our own personal reunion – like our 10th and 20th reunions. Is it open to other class years? Yes, it’s open to other SGHS Classes and/or your family and friends. Do we have to book our accommodations at South Coast Winery or Pechanga? No you do not have to stay at the South West Coat Winery and/or Pechanga. All accommodations are strictly your decision. Regrettably, our group rate has expired at Pechanga. Today (Wed. July 3, 2013) is the last day you can book your room at the South Coast Winery at the special group rate. In addition, our website provides several other hotels in the area. Or if you chose to partner up with a friend/classmate it’s all up to you as well. Is John or Jane Smith attending the reunion? Does it really matter? You should attend the reunion to celebrate your personal and professional goals from the last 30 years. This is YOUR celebration!!! What it the itinerary?
