Dear SSSP Students, We have begun our June series of graduate school information workshops. This workshop series will be a combination of roundtable discussion and hands-on sessions. They will be held in the SSSP Computer Lab from 2-4 pm. Pre-registration is required for each week. We will send out a link to register a week prior to each workshop. To register for the second session on June 13th or third session on June 20th click on the link: WEEK 2/June 13th 2-4 pm: Personal Statement/ Statement of Purpose goo.gl/cHhFM Students will learn the distinction between the two statements and generate a rough draft for their program of choice. This will be a hands-on workshop in which students will investigate what is required in a statement specific to their program of study. WEEK 3/June 20th 2-4 pm: Letters of Recommendation goo.gl/IL2vW In this workshop, students will explore the preferred protocol for obtaining favorable letters of recommendation from faculty. Topics covered will include how to approach and determine appropriate faculty recommenders, effective time management, and packaging information of requested material necessary for the letter. WEEK 4/ June 27th 2-4 pm: GRE Preparation Students will receive information on the GRE, including overview of test, question types, new scoring, studying for test, registration and fee waiver. Students will also take part in a part in a practice test.
