Dear Senator Inhofe As an American citizen, I implore you to stop denying climate change and the negative impact it is having on our environment, our economy, and our public health. In their time, ordinary people debated the reality of Plate Tectonics, Relativity, Germs, and the workings of the Solar System. At first, skepticism is a healthy part of scientific advancement. But after the questions have been addressed, continuing denial is simply harmful to the advancement of humanity, especially when the inaction of policy makers causes harm. In time, your resistance will be futile as the wave of truth overtakes it, and you risk having this as your legacy. You would be on the wrong side of history for eternity. Depending on how much suffering is attributed to your actions or inactions, your name could be damned by future generations forever. Or, you could let the power of the market solve this problem, and be a hero. The carbon fee and dividend system advocated by the Citizen’s Climate Lobby is one possibility for using economic forces to encourage innovation and job growth by allowing every citizen to make their own choices for products and services that are sustainable. Please understand how serious this is. Please act—the world needs you.
