Dear Sir /Madam, In the wake of the natural calamity that hit Uttarakhand state in the last few days, life has been badly disrupted. Heavy rainfall, cloud bursts, landslides and floods have caused widespread loss of life and property displacing lakhs of people. Many kilometers of roads have been washed away and many more badly damaged.. Bridges, buildings, water lines, canals, check dams, electricity lines, power houses and other public and private properties have been severely damaged. The Govt. of Uttarakhand is firmly engaged in relief and rescue operations with the help of Army and Paramilitary forces helping the affected families in this hour of crisis. Some other State Government of the country have also announced financial aids to the victims of Uttarakhand As in the past, the Bharat Scouts & Guides always volunteers to provide relief through man power and materials during such type of calamities. We appeal to all Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers, Unit Leaders and all connected with Scouts Guides Movement to come forward and help in any manners then can to mitigate the miseries of victims of floods in Uttarakhand. They can help by providing services in the area and also shelter, food, medicine, clothes and monetary contributions. As an immediate measure, the Scouts and Guide Units functioning in nearby towns and villages should come forward under their leaders to organize/assist relief camps in coordination with local administration and the local people for effective distribution of relief materials and support to the victims of Uttarakhand.
