Dear Snuneymuxw Friends and Family: I have been greatly honoured to serve as your Chief for the last four years. Doing this important work on your behalf has led me to gain a new love and appreciation for our People and communities, and everything they represent. Together, we have stood strong over the last four years in a principled manner, guided by our snawayalth. We made a collective decision to demand the full implementation of our Treaty of 1854 – and launched a comprehensive effort to do that. This has brought us great success – including over 2000 acres of new land, new economic development agreements, water on IR 2 and IR 4, a new gym being built for our youth and children, and new land adjacent to IR 1 which will serve as a sports field for all of us. While we have had great success, we have significant work remaining. We must make sure that the achievements of the last four years are implemented in a way that provides jobs, benefits, and opportunities for every Snuneymuxw person, and that we take the next further steps of ensuring that our way of life, culture, and Treaty are respected and protected far into the future. We must continue to stand together, with strength, to build new housing, acquire more lands that help secure our future, complete a new school, and ensure the old ways of the Crown unilaterally trying to make decisions about our lands and resources is ended once and for all. On December 7, when you vote for your Chief and Council, please vote for me and I will continue on the strong path we have established over the past four years. Hychqa Siem!
