Dear Zane, Plz keep me anonymous. Dear Zane Im 36yr old female from the U.S.V.I. i admire u so much! But i have a situation that i need help with Im a single mother of two a 8yr and a 3yr old. They dad is in there life but we not in a relationship! My problem is he doesnt support them financially i work at a job that pay minimum wage of $7.25 hr and 20 hours a week. And still i have pay rent and utility I get a lil help from the government as wic and snap. But not enough by the end of the month i have to spend my paycheck so my children could eat til the first of the month. My problem is anytime i ask my baby daddy for something to do with the kids is a problem i mean am very independent but my problem is i dont have a car and in the usvi u either have a car or pay a taxi bus i spend like 30 dollars every week on transportation alone! And that why i have to depend on him! For transportation for my son to go to daycare and to watch the children on weekends when am working! (Need the less i still have to provide food and gas money) and the reason i do it he doesnt have a job so i provide For my children because i wouldnt want dem to starve or he run out of gas on the road with them! I want to move to states to try and provide a better life. For them! But my children love their dad! My questions what advice can u give me on this whole situation! Thank you Zane and have a blessed night! MY RESPONSE: You need to do whatever you need to do to make a better life for your children. If you feel like you have better opportunities in the States, then you need to try to make that happen. He is incapable of contributing to their welfare financially. He will not even pay for the gas to take them to school. You are 36 and time waits for no one. If you are going to make that move, do it as soon as possible while the children are still young enough to appreciate being placed in a better situation. Good luck.
