Dear all, Me & Minakshi, both of us are in Nirjuli Arunachal Pradesh on the address and phone numbers given in signature at the end of the mail. Background – Ekanathji Ranade after establishing Vivekanand Rock Memorial, Set up Vivekanand Kendra at Kanyakumari. There he showcased the work of Vivekanand and a center to train volunteers. The Kendra regularly hold yoga and general training programs. Then kendra started setting up schools. 64 schools are established in remote areas (majority in Arunachal Pradesh about 34 followed by Assam, Nagaland, Tamilnadu & Andman Nicobar), 6 ITIs for women, 665 Kendras, 220 Balwadis, 12000 Poor rural Children feed in Anandalayas. By mere chance they came to know that Dr Minakshi Barve is Ph.D, in education. So VKV kendra requested her to come to Arunachal Pradesh to help to set B.Ed college. We immediately agreed to spare time. We came here to Guvahati on 19th July. Dibrigarh is the place where head office of VKVAPT is established. This is a special trust which looks after all development programs for Arunachal pradesh. Schools are divided in six clusters. Each cluster has one education officer. Nirjuli is on the plain and surrounded by green hills with thick forest. Surprisingly sun is quite strong and weather sultry and hot. It rains at the interval 2/3 days. The intensity of rain is very heavy for about an hour with lot of thunder. It is followed by steady rains for couple of hours. With this rains small rivers are in spate. Some rivers here change the course often. Some river do this with devastation on the banks. Hence these rivers are known as “pagal = mad”. Near bridges they have bunds to keep the course. We are given accommodation of a 2B, hall, kitchen & dining. One person to cook for us and do all house keeping activities for us. We are tasting some known and some unknown vegetables. No problems about food so far. We have started our work. Minakshi observes lessons of teachers and then gives them feed back and improvement tips. I am taking some classes for XII and training teachers in GeoGebra. In this four months period we will get acclimatized with the weather and food here. We also will gauge our utility and compatibility to VKV culture. In short we are busy and happy. Our phone numbers and address is given below.
