Dear community leaders: Nominations are now being accepted for the Inland Empire Economic Partnership’s second annual Red Tape to Red Carpet Awards. The IEEP, which strives to improve the business climate and quality of life in the Inland Empire, will recognize the government entities in San Bernardino and Riverside counties that have developed innovative ways to make the area an easier place for businesses to grow and prosper. There are dedicated and committed public servants and government agencies in our area that have made it their mission to cut the bureaucratic red tape that so often slows the progress of economic development for our 4.3 million residents. We are very excited to have the chance to honor them. The event and reception will be held at the Victoria Club in Riverside on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. Please mark the date on your calendars. The event will give the business community an opportunity to express its gratitude for cities’ and counties’ efforts and secure media coverage to make sure the public is aware of the high levels of cooperation being practiced in the Inland Empire. Our public partners and agencies and the companies that do business with them can nominate potential honorees in the seven categories we will recognize this year. All will be cities, counties, special districts or regional agencies that have gone the extra mile to proactively alleviate the maze of regulatory issues and make their jurisdictions an easier for a business to eliminate the barrier to economic development and promote job growth. Program awards will be given in the following categories: Business Retention and Expansion; Responding to Globalization; Sustainable and Green Development; Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse; and, a new category this year, the “Tales of Two Cities” award, which will recognize government agencies that put city or county lines on the back burner to cooperate for the common economic good. Also, we will recognize the leading Public-Private Partnership in the Inland Empire, and present an award for the person whose excellent leadership capabilities led to successes in putting job creation and a better economy first. Last year’s winners were Ontario for Business Retention and Expansion; Riverside County Office of Foreign Trade for Responding to Globalization; Rancho Cucamonga for Sustainable and Green Development; Yucaipa for Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse; and Rialto for Public-Private Partnership. Duane Baker, Director of Management Services for San Bernardino Associated Governments, will recognized Leadership in Public Service. More information is available by contacting Jack Katzanek, the IEEP’s Senior Director of Communications, at 909 382-6000, extension 201, or at jkatzanek@ieep. We are eager to hear about the efforts Inland Empire leaders have made to trim the bureaucratic barriers., and we look forward to seeing all of you when we honor the winners on the Red Carpet at the Awards Ceremony on February 26. Thank you for helping us honor some of the people who make the Inland Empire a better place to work and live. Regards, Paul Granillo President and CEO Inland Empire Economic Partnership
