Dear dog lovers Thank you for helping to find Snooker; we would - TopicsExpress

Dear dog lovers Thank you for helping to find Snooker; we would not have found him without you. Thank you to Edel, Louise for taking the time to read the lost notice and putting two and two together to unite a very happy dog person and dog. Thank you to Mary and Ruth for forwarding notices to and from facebook ( I dont have an account). I am very grateful to Helena in particular who while driving to work in the early morning, noticed a distracted and upset canine and took the time to stop, turn around her car, check him out and reassure him that she would take care of him. And she did. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It seems that Snooker may have been hit by a car (slight head injury), become disoriented and walked for three miles in the opposite direction from home to find himself in the middle of a very busy main road and was then rescued by Helen who brought him to the vet. He did not have any internal or external identification and so was given into the care of the dog warden and was safely stored and well cared for in kennels for five days. If this had not been done he would most certainly have been killed by oncoming traffic due to his deafness and poor visibility in one eye. When I picked him up he was content, a little hang-dog and confused. I brought his daughter with me and she was very happy to be reunited with her Dad. This morning his bark is back, his head is healing and order is restored to our yard. So what did I learn from this misadventure? That there are very kind people in the world who take the time to observe and do something about a situation which seems not quite right, that there is a council care system for picking up lost dogs and keeping them safe until they are reunited with their owners (thank you PJ), that the vets clinic in Loughrea looked after a lost dog, that the vets in Oranmore posted his lost dog details and the gardai in Oranmore listened and advised me what to do, that there are on-line lost dogs networks and a self-funding virtual and real organisation called MADRA which provides essential services for dogs and people who love dogs and that there is you who have taken the time to read, respond and comment. There are a lot of dogs out there who need care and love. Kind regards Anne PS I am booking Snooker in to the vet to be chipped and pinned and will renew his external dog tag.
