Dear friends, I will not be participating in this craziness that is the #icebucketchallenge. Instead, I will be taking part in the #noicebucketchallenge by just donating money and raising awareness. Please tell me, how are you helping the the cause by pouring ice and water over your head? In your video, do you explain why you are doing this? Do you even know what ALS is? If you are donating money to the Les Turner ALS FOUNDATION, the The ALS Association or the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter, (or even another cause that is near and dear to your heart!) then I thank you, and, by all means, continue to act a fool if it keeps the money rolling in. I have been watching some of these videos, and I cant help but feel anger towards those like Chris Pratt or Conan OBrien Presents: Team Coco or numerous others who have made a mockery of this event. Or those who dont even know why they are doing it - only because someone challenged them. I know what ALS does. My mother died of this disease. I saw it take everything away from her. The bottom line is, wasting water is not going to cure ALS. Research is. And they cannot continue researching without cash. I donate money every year. I hold fundraisers through my Avon business. I educate. So, if you still want to dump water on your head, thats totally your prerogative. Just be sure you know why you are accepting this challenge. Is it to look ridiculous shivering and wet, or is it to help find a cure to a terminal illness that more than 5,600 people get diagnosed with every year? I hope its the latter.
