Dear friends, Recently, we all witnessed a grand ceremony of the festival of democracy, the republic day pared in front of the Red Fort (Once a symbol of monarchism)...the day, when we got freedom in real sense, when India became a democratic republic and the power to run the nation was transferred to the general pubic...and for this, we were given a tool of election, by which, we can elect our representatives to run a government of people for people.... In coming days, the nation is going to be in grip of election fever as general elections are approaching closer...most of us are hoping for a better government this time...but, before going to cast our vote in favour of any political party that, we must think for a while, what really we need and what are they offering to us...??? And also, what are they offering and what are they delivering...??? To understand this, first of all we need to know the agendas (hidden and open) of these political parties who claim to be the real representatives of us. Today, a competition is going on between political parties of India to prove themselves the frontrunner and saviour of secularism and democracy in India. At first sight, it looks really great that apart from one, rest of the political parties are really very much concerned about protection of communal harmony and peace in India...Being a progressive Indian we must vote for a party which is secular in true sense and which does not play a vote bank politics... Today, many local and national level parties are there to strengthen the roots of democracy in India. But because of this, it is becoming more and more difficult for the voter to elect a good party which can provide us a stable government and good governance... So, lets have a brief analysis of the major political parties of our country...to do so, lets begin with the oldest and the largest political party of India, the Congress party, which also claims to be the leader of the secular camp and the founder of democracy in the country... If we look at the history of independent India, this party ruled the nation for the longest period, almost over a period of half century...things must have been changed during this long period of Congress rule, communalism must have been wiped out from the roots of the society and all forms of feudalism must have been eradicated from the veins of this nation...but, what happened......??? Has this been cleaned or is this growing in some or other forms...??? Lets begin with the secular image of this oldest party...if we look at the history of it, the face of Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru comes in front of us...a great leader, who played a major role in the freedom of country as well as in the division of it, a division at the name of religion...and also he will always be remembered for his partiality in forming/applying a Common Civil Code for the people of India in which a particular community was given exemption...was that the secularism of congress party or of Mr. Nehru...???...or was that the symbol of vote bank politics??? Okay, forget about the past we should focus on the present and future... For last few weeks, I have been watching some advertisements on television and in news papers, some of them are promotional ads of some very specific departments of government of India and others are of Congress Party (the ruling party or in other ways we can say it government of India)....Most of these ads belong to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, showing the welfare schemes being run for minority community and some promotional ads of the Congress Party... so, what is wrong with this...??? Governments should promote their welfare schemes and a political party has its right to promote itself...but, if we look at these ads carefully...we would find that a specific community is being targeted in all of these promotional ads...why only people with beards and skull caps are shown in the ads of Ministry of Minority Affairs...??? And, why the name of a young female leader of this political party is shown in a promotional ad of this party...??? Actually, all of these are the indications of this partys policy of vote bank politics.... Now, lets shift our focus on the democratic values of the Congress party...being, the oldest and strongest party of the country it should have a long list of much experienced and capable leaders in it....but, is this possible for anyone of them to go against the will of the members of a particular family of the party...a young leader from this family, who never every dared to led a department of the government, has the courage to tear the bill, passed by the group of ministers and approved by the Prime Minister of his own party...and finally, government had to kneel down in front of that young leader and had to take back that bill....despite, being so many experienced and capable leaders in the party....the entire party seems to be kneel down in front of an individual person of the family... This is the face of a party which claims to be the leader of secular camp and saviour of democracy....which in true sense, neither a secular party nor a democratic one...lets think over it... To be continued.....
