Dear friends and members of The Doubting Thomases The Doubting - TopicsExpress

Dear friends and members of The Doubting Thomases The Doubting Thomases has been especially active during the last few weeks. I previously suggested that our world was facing a moral crisis and that if humanity did not rise to condemn and put a stop the slaughter of innocents, possibly our human race did not deserve to survive, although I regretted that we had to take down the animal species with us. The odds are still stacked against us. 95% of the Israeli people support Netanyahu; the majority of US citizens consider the attacks on Gaza justified; US is at it again in Iraq and continues to interfere with governments in the Middle East and elsewhere while continuing to support dictatorships. Our prime minister provides unconditional support to Israel regardless of its human rights violations and international acts of terror. Mainstream media continues to distort news coverage with pro-zionist Israeli propaganda parroted by puppets like Harper and Obama; and along with this - a systematic parallel propaganda campaign supported by billions continues to feed Islamophobia and discredit anyone embracing the Muslim faith. Not one of the leaders of any Canadian political party has had the courage or integrity to unequivocally condemn the carnage. The pro-Israel lobby which shapes foreign policy has played the antisemitic card to great effect. And yet members of the Jewish community have been among the most articulate, courageous critics, even when facing imprisonment, loss of academic positions, humiliation, personal smear campaigns and police brutality. We have made approximately 90 new international contacts, have been communicating directly with political party leaders in attempting to appeal to reason and conscience, and continue to post daily on our face-book page and those of the political parties. Canada and US are becoming more isolated in that many other countries of the Western Hemisphere have unequivocally condemned the Israeli atrocities and have withdrawn their ambassadors from Israel. Despite the corporate sponsored media which continues to feed lies to the masses, the social media is proving the falsehood of the fabrications of the corporate and politically elite. More people are demanding, crying out and sacrificing their very lives in the pursuit of justice, and massive protests are occurring worldwide. Perhaps the tide is beginning to change. Possibly – although this may be a huge leap of faith - those that follow after us, if our planet manages miraculously to survive, may see this as a crucial turning point, of which we were a very very small part. Although all parts of the Middle East remain in crisis, partially due to the US interventionist activities, and although the climate deniars continue to aggressively advance their myopic views fuelled by greed - there may be a glimmer of hope. As the old saying goes, perhaps there is a light at the end of the tunnel...as long as- it is not that of an approaching train! I wish to thank all of our members who continue to hang in despite the odds, risks and sacrifices involved. Gordon Gosse
