Dear friends, if you see an article exposing a secret mailing list - TopicsExpress

Dear friends, if you see an article exposing a secret mailing list of the gaming journalism elite, Ill confess that Im a member of GameJournoPros. Its not some sort of a cabal or shadow council. Its a discussion group where we talk about when we understand review copies are being sent out and the death of print media and freelance rates and job openings (and closings) and dog GIFs--many, many dog GIFs--and, yes, sometimes talk about how members are respectively covering certain topics. Its not collusion, but banter between professionals in the same career, much as I assume any work group may get together and discuss their jobs, either in person or virtually through a message board or whatever. Its not a closely guarded secret as much as it is semi-private, and the group moderator approves people joining--not as a clandestine password-at-the-door committee, but as a qualifier to keep the discussion on topic among fellow game journalism professionals. Its not more proof of a corrupt media, but just a bunch of guys and girls who do the same job sharing notes about the issues of their profession. Not a BFD. The fact that this was exposed on a conservative blog as proof of yet another conspiracy is like saying that someone is part of a secret society when they take a letter out of their mailbox or saying that communists are frequently wandering the halls at your local mall. It sounds so much more sinister when words like scandal and activism and collusion are used. Also, that this is the fifth most-popular story on this conservative site is simultaneously amazing and hilarious. Seriously...this is some major unnews.
