Dear group members. My friend sara and I have taken on a huge project inspired by Milkbags Unlimited. The goal is to make mats for people in need either here in Canada (homeless) or abroad to devastated areas. This is a community building project across all generations; an excellent opportunity for grandmothers, mothers and girls to bond : ) As one mat requires about 400 milk bags, this project will be done in two phases:1 collection of milk bags. 2 making the mats. 1st step is to collect the milk bags and this is where I humbly request for your help. Every household drinks milk of some kind. All I am asking is that instead of throwing it in the garbage, recycl, please save the bag. Firstly, when you bring the milk home from the store, empty the outer bag and air dry it for an hour to eliminate any foul smell. no need to rinse the bag. Secondly, flatten it and put it in a photocopy paperbox or something of similar size. One box can store 850 bags! Thirdly, contact me for pick up.
