Dear white people - Some of you seem to be embarrassing yourselves a little bit, with your comments, jokes, etc about Ferguson. I am fortunate enough to have friends from many different races, religions, and various points on the Socioeconomic spectrum. Im going to try and help you. If you dont have any black friends, you probably dont know much about black people. If you dont have any black friends, when you think of black people, you probably think only of poor blacks living in public housing in the inner city and on welfare. At least, it sure seems that way when reading your comments. White people who have many black friends realize that blacks are as diverse as any other group. Whites who dont have black friends dont seem to understand that there are black people who are just like them in terms of family, education, values, etc. If all of your friends are white, you may be harboring a lot of false assumptions. When you lump a whole race together, you look ignorant. You owe it to yourselves and to the betterment of society to branch out a little bit. ( Ps the same goes for your feelings about any other group of people who are different from you-- Mexicans, Asians, Muslims, Jews, etc. ) Youre welcome. 😊
