Death anniversary of Patrice Lumumba ( 17th. January 1961 ) One of the terrible asssissination carried out in Africa in the 20th century . Many African leaders looked up to him - Sekou Toure , Kwame Nkrumah , Tommy Mboya. He understood the threat of tribalism . He was for a unitary Congo and against the division of the country . Patrice Lumumba , was the first Prime Minister of the Congo Republic , was put under house arrest ( handed over to his enemies ), under circumstances saying that , it was for his own protection . He was executed and buried somewhere ; and as if this was not enough , his body exhumed and burned !!!! Who had interest in removing traces of his existance ?????? His death has left many open questions for children , who are still waiting for answers and apologies !!!!!!
