Deb Shaw, I wouldnt class myself as a sentimental type of guy, but heres why I think 1976 was truly a remarkable year. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer which would later revolutionize the way people interact with technology. At Mount Temple Comprehensive school in Dublin a group of school boys formed the legendary rock band U2 and would later go on to sell over 150 million records worldwide. The Concorde airline embarked on its first commercial flight sparking in a new era of supersonic passenger travel. Paul Simon released his hit single “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and at the box office, Martin Scorseses critically acclaimed movie Taxi Driver set a new standard in film making. And also quite remarkable, on this very day back in 1976 in a remote hospital in Leeds a baby girl named Deb Shaw (you) is born weighing just over 5lbs and in your own words “was a handful of loveliness. In short Deb, I think you’re an amazing person, in how you are with our son Daniel, in your desire to be part of something thats always about doing the right thing or helping others which I see you do through your counseling, in the way you seem to overcome the challenges that life throws your way in such a positive manner and in your endless quest to be the best person you can be. You have the most enchanting smile, a sense of humor that I still don’t entirely understand but nevertheless think is wonderful and you continue to inspire and make me proud. So on this day my friend, I wish you every happiness, continue to follow your dreams, never settle for second best (you deserve the best!) and even though destiny has taken us down different paths, take comfort in knowing that I will always be here for you. Always! 1976 was truly a remarkable year and youre the reason why! Happy Birthday Deb.
