Debates about hair have been rife in the African Caribbean - TopicsExpress

Debates about hair have been rife in the African Caribbean community, with comedian Chris Rock releasing his Good Hair documentary back in 2009 and department store Selfridges hosting the Untangling the Politics of Black Hair conference in May this year. These are just a small example of the many discussions that surround the subject; a subject discussed in homes, salons, over the phone, privately, publicly and internationally. With the help of some of the leading hair experts in the UK, we will be exploring the issue in depth on Tuesday 9th September for a show that will be broadcast live on BEN TV (Sky channel 182). We hope to bust myths such as women who wear weave do so to look more European and answer your queries on how to make the transition to rocking your natural hair. Our guest panel will consist of: · Morris Roots – the award winning locs and natural hair stylist · Michael Roberts – owner of Michael’s Styles Hair Salon in North West London · Salem Ayesha – the founder of Root2Tip Haircare Solutions · Patricia Hope - head of global training and education for Luster Products Europe If you would like to be a part of The Great Hair Debate and put your questions to the panel, then get in touch by contacting us on 0203 654 2074. If you can’t make it down to the studios don’t worry, we will be taking calls from viewers so you can still take part. Remember, we want to hear your opinions so get involved!
