*Debs notes: Good morning. I want to share some important information regarding saving money. Most of us are on a tight budget and buying groceries is a must, but how can we save money while doing so? Ive collected some very important data on how to save money and heres it is.* Its surely not rocket science to realize that this is something everyone should do despite how much you are making. This concept is as old as money itself but an extremely tough one to master considering all the debt that people have succumbed to. Saving that extra dollar, especially when the economy takes a downturn is highly critical but also the most challenging one. What happens if your company decides to downsize and you are laid off or your hours are decreased? These are the times that savings help you get through the worst of financial times and you will thank yourself for doing so. Here some reasons why you should be saving money: 1. Plan B- Saving for a rainy day is what some call it and if you find yourself on financial life support or have very little funds left in your bank account then a safety net is vita. Having extra money for those unexpected times like a lay-off at work proves to come in handy when you most require it. Saving money can in many ways, ease the tension and stress that many people have concerning job security so be sure to save whenever you get the chance to. 2. Options- Money set aside opens up many options and opportunities for you down the road, especially if you are already thinking about retirement. When you have that extra $10 or $20 to spend, know that it you could be putting it towards your future. Always be wise about how you spend your money and take a more proactive approach when saving that extra dollar. We now live in an age where our life span has increased and well be living longer, which only means that we will need more money to survive. Being financial stable even after your working years are over is what will really enable for you to live a healthy and happy life. Your worries will disappear in the future but you need to save today in order to turn those dreams into a reality. 3. No More Stress- Stress can be considered to go hand in hand with money. Many seem to think that the more money you have the more stress that is involved in your life. There are however, just as many people if not more who believe that having little money leaves a world of burden in your life. Stress is correlated with many different diseases such as high blood pressure and fatigue so it is a no-brainer at the end of the day on what to do with your money; save, save, and save more. 4. Coupons are big business: More than 3,000 manufacturers distribute nearly 330 billion coupons worth an estimated $280 billion every year in an effort to help consumers save money. Consider these suggestions to make using coupons work for you: • Make a list. Don’t go to the store without a list. Lists remind you what you need and help prevent you from buying items you don’t need. • Buy only those items that you normally select for your family. Just because you have a coupon doesnt mean you have to use it. Don’t allow coupons to cause you to buy on impulse. • Comparison shop. Don’t assume bigger is better. It might be less expensive to buy two smaller items with coupons than one larger item. If a coupon is good for any size, the smaller size is generally a better buy. • Try different brands. This will expand the coupons you are able to use and might introduce you to new products you will like. • Know store policies on such things as “buy one, get one free” or 10-for-10 pricing. Does the store match competitors’ prices and/or coupons? Do they have double-coupon days? Can a manufacturer’s coupon be used with a store coupon? • Find a coupon organizational system that works for you. Some shoppers organize coupons according to store layout. Some clip coupons only for items they use. Others put the entire ad in a binder. Do what works best for you. Read Consumer Reports’ report on the best coupon apps at ConsumerReports.org/cro/2013/08/best-coupon-apps/index.htm#/. • Always take your coupons when you shop. There might be closeouts or other specials not listed in the store’s ads. For additional savings, combine coupons with rebates; combine manufacturer and store “buy one, get one free” coupons; and use coupons on seasonal promotions and closeouts. Using these methods, some items can be free. • Look for discounts on prescriptions. Many pharmacies offer a discount with multiple refills. New or transferred prescriptions might receive discounts or gift cards. Know your insurance coverage. It might cost as much for a several-month supply as a one-month supply. • Don’t forget to look for discounts on such things as home repairs, yard work, dry cleaning, photo developing, fitness centers, restaurants, car repairs and travel. • Avoid paying for coupons. In addition to newspapers, magazines, mailers, store ads and displays, and product packages, many websites offer printable coupons. Doing an Internet search will provide you with many sources for coupons. • Don’t be a hoarder. No matter what the coupon value, only shop for products you need. A bargain is only a bargain if you can actually use the item. Clipping and using coupons might seem like a lot of work, requiring lots of time for what appears to be a small amount of money. Someone who consistently saves $25 a week will save $100 a month and $1,200 a year. This is a great way to reduce spending and increase savings. *Debs notes: In our home, clipping coupons is a must, we look in our Sunday newspaper and go through the Price Chopper ads, SmartSource, redplum, magazines, online coupons and also direct company websites. We save anywhere from $20.00 up to $50.00 (on a good sales week). Now this may not seem like a lot of money, but add those figures up monthly, yearly and I am sure you will rethink the importance of coupons. I hope this helps you, it surely has for us. Doing my recipes blogs could be quite expensive and I am only blogging what my family is actually eating per day but saving is very important because with saving comes some nice perks such as; more money in the pocket and/or some extra yummy meals. If you have any more suggestions on how to save money, where to get coupons from, please let me know so I can share it with everyone.* Thank you https://facebook/groups/1578700045686418/
