Dec 31st 2014: And Jasper is back up for adoption, again! Yes this poor boy has been adopted out twice and returned twice in the last 2 weeks. Jasper is a 1.5 year old Beagle X, male and he is fixed. He was surrendered to the shelter by his owners because of a change in the family dynamics. We have learned while he has been with us is that Jasper, though LOVELY, he is in need of some training. Jasper is housebroken but that seems to be as far as any kind of training he has had. Jasper was obviously allowed in his previous home to climb up on to whatever he chose. So he does have the habit of jumping up on counters, tables, people, etc. This is something that can be easily corrected with time, patience and repetition. Jasper has separation anxiety. We have discovered he does not like to be alone and this too is something that will need to be worked on. Jasper would do best in a home where someone(s) are home most of the time. Also, Jasper seems to do really well when there is another dog around. Having another dog to keep him company while people are not home will help with his anxiety. Jasper gets along GREAT with other dogs. Jasper is a sweet, quiet (for a beagle X), playful little boy who loves his cookies, walks and cuddles!
