We’ll work on my compositions (mostly based on graphic scores) and John Cage Concert for piano and Orchestra. The Workshop is designed to encourage personal creativity, heighten sound awareness and explore various elements and methods of composition and improvisation ( especially in not-idiomatic/pan-idiomatic way). Ways of listening to and relating to each other, the relationship between sound and silence, between acoustic sounds and electronics, between improvisation and composition (developing awareness of the logic of a good improvisation), historical perspectives on and examples of improvisation related to composition & vice versa, and the relationship between music and other art forms and disciplines are explored, as well as whatever topics of interest may arise during the workshops. Focus of my Workshop will be to work with the musicians on the importance of composition/improvisation. I would like to develop compositions that include improvisation, as well as improvisations, that could be performed in a final concert. I welcome the opportunity to work collectively with artists from all disciplines (dance, poetry, movie, painting etc…………) GIANNI LENOCI Pianist, composer ,educator.
