Decades ago, a man started his journey from the small town of Qila - TopicsExpress

Decades ago, a man started his journey from the small town of Qila Saifullah to the provincial capital, Quetta in order to make a living for himself. He learnt the skill of tailoring and worked tirelessly day in and day out. Soon, he was able to open his own shop and my grandmother was among his first few clienteles. He had a dream of providing for his family’s well-being and children’s education like every other commoner. When engaging in conversation, Nani always used to ask of him to pray for her children’s “wadda imtihaan” (big test). He asked her what this “wadda imtihaan” was and Nani told him about the C.S.S. Examinations. That day onwards, he decided he would do whatever it takes for his children to clear those examinations and become reputed officers. The man-hours he put in his work increased and started reflecting in his child’s academic results. Age and deteriorating health caused restrictions in his work to the extent where he no longer could work and thus he retired. But, not before his dream was a realisation. He witnessed the rise of his son from ground zero to the post of Deputy Commissioner Quetta. Yesterday, he even witnessed his shahadat in the line of duty. D.C. Quetta, Abdul Mansoor Kakar, lost his life due to head and chest injuries suffered in the bomb blasts at Bolan Medical Complex. I had the privilege of meeting him more than once in the past. I wish I could be alongside his father, our very own “Master Sahab” in these times of anarchy for him and his family. Forever, this story will be an inspiration for me. My prayers, salutations and silence. - Osman Hashim Baloch.
