December 4, 1942: BIRTHDAY: Chris Hillman Starting his interest in music largely through folk and bluegrass music, Chris Hillman was a founding member of the Byrds remaining with the band through their country album, SWEETHEARTS OF THE RODEO. After his departure, the Byrds contributed little substantial music just some nice tunes until their demise. He then formed the Flying Burrito Brothers with Gram Parsons, a pioneer country rock band that launched Gram Parsons into prominence as a major influence on country music. The Burritos were short-lived. Hillman went on to work with Stephen Stills on his two Manassas albums. He then recorded two albums with Richard Furay and J.D. Souther as the Souther-Hillman-Furay band. After that, he embarked on a solo career often working with ex-Burrito Herb Pederson. His greatest commercial success since Manassas came with the formation of the Desert Rose Band, who had a series of country radio hits in the late 80s/early 90s. Since then, hes continued his solo work with a strong Americana influence. https://youtube/watch?v=0cKeusBPZMk
