December 4, 2014 Luke 1:1-4 (HCSB) 1 Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as the original eyewitnesses and servants of the word handed them down to us. 3 It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in orderly sequence, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed. Yesterday, my lovely Libby completed her third round of chemo with flying colors. Other than being more fatigued than anyone who hasn’t gone through the treatments can possibly imagine, she is doing great. As the songwriter said, “Oh the Joy that fills my soul!” Speaking of joy, for Christians this is the most joyous time of year. In a couple of weeks we will celebrate the birth of our Savior. We have eyewitness testimony of the event, handed down to us in the written Word as recorded by writers such as Luke, the physician, who carefully investigated everything from the very first before undertaking his narrative of the events recorded by others. As Luke said, “So that you, {that’s you and me} may know the certainty of the things about which you, {we} have been instructed.” And now, more than two thousand years later, everywhere we turn; someone is trying to remove Christ from CHRISTmas. Towns and Cities have made Christmas parades holiday parades. Department stores tout the holiday season and Santa Clause takes center stage. With this change comes consequences; instead of joy, hearts and minds are filled with worry. “How will I ever afford to buy for everyone on my list?” “I haven’t worked in over a year; it looks like there’ll be no Santa this year!” “Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us.” It’s too bad that many in today’s world refuse to read some of these narratives! It’s a simple story about how God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to dwell among us. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35) There are twenty-one days left until Christmas Day. What do you say we all pray every day for all those who haven’t read the Narratives? Let’s pray that God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ will open their eyes and hearts and that that same Holy Spirit will come upon them and the power of the Most High will fill them with the wonder and the true Joy of the season. Let’s pray that they will truly understand that Christmas is not just another holiday for making a profit, but the day to celebrate when God became flesh and dwelt among us. Let’s pray that Jesus will touch them and make them whole! Think about it and… Have a Blessed – Filled With His Great Joy – Day!!! https://youtube/watch?v=5m--ptwd_iI
