December has always been a month of many memories. Today is my fathers birthday. I have always been blessed to have a man who loves mom, the boys and I unconditionally. When he was young, he didnt talk a lot. He worked hard. Very hard. But I always remember feeling safe. By time I was in high school dad was around more. Dad worked at General Motors and went to school full time when I was little. By time I was in high school he had his degree and was able to follow the LWHS band on weekends. I was so proud as my mom and dad sat at every parade and competition. My parents together have always been my strength. I knew marriage was hard but they made it look easy. One of my proudest days was being able to tell my dad on his birthday that I was pregnant with my first son Robert Charles. My Charlie. He is a carbon copy of my dad. My dad has been my rock for me and my boys. He has provided them with a strong male role model. This year has been a very difficult year. With moms diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer and then myself getting diagnosed with breast cancer, my dad has been the one picking up my boys and driving both mom and I back and forth to doctors. Im so very blessed to have a man who loves mom, my boys and I so much. He is a gem and continues to always work hard and love hard. I know I am lucky. I have never denied having the two best parents a girl and now woman could have. Happy Birthday dad. I pray my boys watch and follow in your footsteps , knowing how to be a good man, father and husband. You are one of a kind and I love you so very much.
