Dedicated to my dear friend Kelly Parker #AdoptChange To date, the adoptee rights movement has focused largely on the right to know (to access original birth certificates, medical information etc), neglecting the fight for their right to be cared for by their parents. Yet according to Article 7 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CROC) ... (t)he child...as far as possible, (has) the right to know AND be cared for by his or her parents. Justice is not served merely by a parents identity being known by the child but also by the parent caring for the child, as Article 7 of the CROC states. There is no justification for the abandonment of this duty by able bodied parents, as it is possible for them to parent, and the CROC states as far as possible. Yet, those desperate for a child are only too happy to profit from, and even encourage, unnecessary adoption in order to fulfil their selfish desires. originsnsw/awareness.html
