Deepika Padukone One can not have a cake an eat it too ! One can not use media to advance his/her career and then turn around to complain that too much attention is focused upon them by media to increase its audience; meaning business. That is exactly what it is. Entertainment Industry and Media both are businesses looking for the bottom line and off course means to stay in publics face for popularity. They feed upon each other to say the least. It is given that family, especially children of the public figures must be spared media glare and they should be off limits for any media outfit unless they have done something that is newsworthy. Here the emphasis on the word worthy Deepika Padukones view point deserves respect and she should be commended for the risk she has taken in speaking out against Times of India. A news paper of TOI repute certainly raise my eye brows when I read some of their head lines. They are no less tantalizing or sensational than those of an ordinary tabloid. Having said that, it must be said that individuals like Deepika Padukone must take a consistent view on such matters when it comes to entertainment industry. It would be interesting to hear her views on what is being projected by Bollywood on thousands of screens of the movie theaters all over the world. She has portrayed a Gujarati woman and also a South Indian woman in her recent movies. Does she think directors of these movies have gone beyond what is actually required of the characters she plays in showing her physical attributes and sensuality? Does she think of what impact these movies, some pure phantasy, have on young minds and thus their culture? Nothing wrong with it. Because it is a business. When we think about violating persons dignity or decency, do we ever think about violating the culture? And I am talking about the best part of the culture.
