Defective Christian, Defected Christian Sometimes I wonder if Im a defective Christian or a defected Christian. Ive been reading a lot of dark shit these days. Everything from Albert Camus, to Aldous Huxley, to Friedrich Nietzche, to George Orwell, all that good stuff. In a lot of ways I find Christianity the religion to be utterly unsatisfying. On top of that, I have a disdain for church as well. Now, this is some heavy shit to be confessing. What bothers me then is that many of you are more concerned with the fact that I said shit than the idea that my Christian convictions may have swayed. Everything in this crazy ass mind of mine has become a battle of syllogisms. Yet, the Christianity sticks. Why? I fall back on this idea that virtues are real and not mere abstractions. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. All of these virtues are manifest in Jesus the Christ, the most beautiful man. Now, believing this to be true and worshiping Him are two different things. Where I stand on this, I do not know.
