Defender travels back to the north east with the squad. Gus Poyet will wait for further information before setting out a prognosis for Patrick van Aanholt. The defender was stretchered off in the latter stages of the first half during Sunderlands 3-1 win at Selhurst Park. He was taken straight to hospital with a dislocated shoulder but travelled back with the team to the north east. “Patrick has a dislocated shoulder so we just need to wait and see the damage, really,” Poyet said afterwards. “It is back in position and we are looking to check it in the next couple of days and then from there we will give information about how long it will take.”
