Definitely a rollercoaster of emotions today ..... I had planned a nice ...relaxing day at the pool with Ashlen & the AR swim party. While getting ready ...I get a call from Quickcare ....telling me I need to get JaDarien to the ER immediately. As my heart drops.... I am trying to listen to what she is by law... vaguely explaining. JaDariens left lung had clasped...& he also had a fist size pocket of free air beneath it. We need him to go to the ER for immediate testing. Now... yes...JaDarien has been short of breath & having stabbing chest pains..... hence the initial trip to quick care. X-ray.... EKG....exam... cleared...with sports induced asthma dx - treat with inhaler ..when needed. No worries. He played a 3 day basketball tournament... felt great. So ....after rushing to testing this morning.... I have had 3 phone calls. 1.). We will need to aspirate the pocket of air .... and he has a possible hole in his lungs....we need further testing... possible immediate surgery. Freaking out. 2.) Change of plans..... we will do aspiration.... let lung inflate on its own. Monitor..... reevaluate. No surgery. Calming down... still worried. Few hours later.... 3.) After a pediatric radiology specialist from Morgantown review the results..... ALL CLEAR. Small pocket of free air..... no aspiration or surgery needed. Continue inhaler when needed. Follow up with primary care physician. Thank GOD.....but I seriously need a drink.....
