Delaney and I found her a perfect 1970s-era outfit today at the thrift store for her to wear as an extra in a movie being filmed locally. Made me think of some of the awesome things I got to experiences as a true child of the 70s (I literally hit my teen years as the page turned to 1980)... plaid pants, long dresses, Farrah Fawcett wings, roller skates, the Bee Gees, Wonder Woman, my Nancy Drew lunch box, riding bikes until dark, camping out in a Vega, In talking with Delaney about those years, though, it sounds so superficial. She and others who are so distant from the 1970s will never get how carefree those years felt to me; sure there were plenty of problems (gas lines! Watergate!), but I felt far removed from any of it. It was a good time to be a kid!
