Delegation of AJK leadership call on the President Islamabad; September 2, 2013: A delegation of leadership of Azad and Jammu Kashmir (AJK) led by President AJK Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed today called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The delegation besides President and Prime Minister of AJK included among others Mr. Ghulam Sadiq, Speaker AJK Assembly, Ch. Muhammad Yasin, Senior Minister AJK, Ms Shaheen Dar, Deputy Speaker, Ch. Latif Akbar, Ch Pervez Ashraf, Ms Shazia Akbar and Mian Waheed. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the delegation appreciated the keen interest of the President in development of AJK and lauded the various measures taken for the uplift and betterment of the people of the country particularly Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The President said that PPP government accorded top priority to the development of AJK and undertook every possible step for the well being of the people of Azad Kashmir. The President on the occasion also recounted some of the achievements of the government during the past five years including empowering the Parliament, strengthening of democratic institutions and other far-reaching measures such as self-rule to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, resolving the issue of distribution of resources between the federation and the provinces through 7th NFC Award, restoring the 1973 Constitution, renaming of KP to give the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa their identity , fighting head on terrorists and extremists and empowering the parliament. The delegation thanked the President for meeting and invited him for a farewell reception to be held in his honour at the Kashmir House, Islamabad.
