Dell to launch "wave" of tablets in coming weeks Dell has confirmed that it will be introducing a set of new tablets in the coming weeks. Speaking to AllThingsD, Michael Dell, founder and chief executive officer of Dell said that the company was planning to launch a “significant wave” of tablets. Dell was speaking about the future of the company he set up and what going private would mean for its future fortunes. When questioned about the company’s struggling PC division, he said: “You’ll see another significant wave of tablets from us in the coming weeks”. News that Dell is working on new tablets isn’t new. Last week, Neil Hand, vice president of tablets and performance told attendees at the Intel Developers Forum that the company had a number of new devices in the works. The line up included an eight-inch device that is powered by Intel’s new Bay Trail hardware. Hand was coy on exactly what we could expect from Dell as far as its tablet plans were concerned when questioned at the event. However, Michael Dell’s comments suggest that the company may be about to offer a large selection of tablets aimed at various parts of the market. During the interview, Dell said that he wants reinvest in the company. He also said that it is important for him to get closer to their enterprise customers and remain competitive with pricing.
