Delta gov race: Ogboru picks Erebi as running mate WARRI—LABOUR Party, LP, governorship candidate in Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru, has picked the former President General of Isoko Development Union, IDU, Elder Peter Erebi, as his running mate. Ogboru is from Delta Central senatorial district, mainly Urhobo, while Erebi is from Delta South senatorial district, comprising Ijaw, Isoko and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities. An Isoko leader who preferred anonymity, told Vanguard, yesterday: “Chief Erebi was presented by a coalition of Isoko leaders in the three major political parties, who are aggrieved that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, opted for an Ijaw person as his running mate, whereas incumbent Senator James Manager, gunning for the Senate seat for the fourth time against a mutually agreed power rotation formula, is Ijaw.” LP chairman in Isoko South Local Government Area, Ito Lugard, confirmed to Vanguard when contacted on phone that Chief Erebi had been picked as Ogboru’s running mate. He said: “The position of IDU is that Isoko people will work for the political party that gives Isoko the deputy governor. Now that the Labour Party has done so, Isoko sons and daughters should work for the party. It is time Isoko leaders proved their leadership to the people.” Source:Vanguard
