Dental Surgeons Association Jammu kashmir(DSA-JK) PRESS RELEASE To Sachnews Jammu Kashmir President Dental Surgeons Association Jammu Kashmir (DSA-JK) Dr Asif Iqbal today in a statement strongly condemned thrashing of on duty Dental Surgeon Dr Javid Qanungo yesterday at PHC Burzhama Srinagar.The Dentist received a patient on December 27, at around 12.30 pm with vertical tooth impaction and after proper examination and X-Ray was referred to Dental College Srinagar for expert surgical intervention. At around 1.15 pm, husband of the patient barged into doctor’s room and resorted to unprovoked thrashing of doctor and two female hospital staff.Despite FIR (No. 70) is registered in police station Zakura, culprit has not been arrested.These episodes of hospital staff thrashing have become a routine and it is difficult for doctors to work in such hostile atmosphere.Doctors work in most difficult conditions and government has failed to create a fearless environment in hospitals for efficient patient care.Government has failed to come out with an ordinance wherein any person manhandling a doctor should get a non bailable warrant which has prevented violence against doctors in other states.DSA demanded immediate arrest of culprit and bringing a law for the safety of doctors..
