Department: Housing and Residence Affairs Type: Support Description: Department of Housing and Residence Affairs Male Residence Head (resident) (post level 9) – Ref.: Support1308-101A Duties and responsibilities: Create an inspirational space within the residence community. Manage and control residence, including the establishment and/or maintenance of an academic learning culture within a diverse residence community. Manage the residence within the parameters of the stated vision, mission and strategic goals of the UFS and Housing and Residence Affairs. Establish residences as dynamic and diverse areas within which transformative living and learning can take place. Implement value-driven management in the residence. Providing guidance to the Residence Committee. Implement the college initiative. Provide guidance and mentorship to students within the residence. Create a residence culture that is inclusive of diverse communities. Application of policies as conveyed by the department of Housing and Residence Affairs. Inherent requirements: Post-school degree or diploma. Balanced communication skills. Strong administrative and interpersonal skills. Strong academic profile. Leadership development and crises management. Facilitation skills. Ability to work in a group. Ability to provide guidance in a rapidly transforming environment and to manage the process of change. Willingness to work after hours in accordance with the rhythm of student life. Empathy with students. Computer literacy. Living full-time in the residence.
