Department of Tourism ‘dupes’ car-parking holder Srinagar, June 3, CNS: In a bid to give undue advantage to a blue-eyed person, Department of Tourism is forcing the car parking holder of Zabarwan park to provide space for the installation of cycle shed meant for those who participate in cycle racing on regular basis under a particular banner. “I am the car parking holder of Zabarwan Park which was outsourced in September 2013 for the two years at the amount of Rs 1,91,370 for the first year and with 10 percent escalation for 2nd year. I have already paid Rs 4,022,40 to department of Tourism,” Javid Ahmed Mir son of Muhammad Ramzan Mir told CNS adding that he was shocked when some persons came in the parking space and started digging process without informing me. “They are trying to occupy 5000sqft which is great injustice to me. How can I earn my living when I have already paid a huge amount to the Department,” he said adding that the officials of Tourism department are persuading me to provide space for the installation of cycle shed and he is confused whom to approach for justice. Javid further said that the space for car parking has shrunk and he is unable to earn a living. Director Tourism could not be contacted. Deputy Director Tourism said that he would look into the matter. (CNS)
