Derridas remarks on the necessary frustration of the desire for metaphysical presence -- the necessity of deconstruction -- evokes in me a particularly sharp-pointed resonance, for it so happens Ive begun to conduct upon myself a dangerous experiment: what happens when a (very) theologically conservative Roman Catholic allows the specter of the peut-être to slip through the fissures of his orthodoxy? The outcome of this experiment can hardly be predicted -- of course!
