Des Moines Concrete Jungle....day 1 zillion With no foreseeable willingness to work out a humane resolution other than continue to use these animals as a means to promote the same song and dance we have been hearing since Sept. 2010 when he was to purchase acreage for his Drive-through zoo in Marion County and had embarked on collecting 1 million from public donations....the animals linger on. Fast forward to today... We are seeing the exact same ploy as the animals remain on their concrete beds surrounded by POSTERS of the lush outdoors (4 YEARS)! DeArmond continues to woo the public by appearing at Altoona and Bondurant city meetings as he seeks donations and support for his perception of his own drive-through park off the highway. He has stated: ...wolves, bobcats, and bears will go through behavior training so they can safely interact with the public.... REALLY????? Your Pella Wildlifes Academy of Wildlife Educations slogan is: WE BRING THE WILDLIFE TO YOU. (because you took the all the LIFE out of the wildlife). Will you----Ron DeArmond----ever consider what is right and humane for these animals by releasing to the Wild Animal Sanctuary? You have purchased your animals as infants from questionable breeders in which the USDA laws are so minimal it is easily abused and animals that are not endangered are overbred for outfits like yours. You can add all your fancy terms but the public is smarter than what you ascertain. When you apply for your yearly permits, the numbers fluctuate so what happens to the animals you no longer account for? Why is it difficult for you to understand these animals need freedom, fresh air, and sunshine? How long do you think you can call the public who questions you uneducated? What you are doing is wrong and inhumane. Give these animals a good life by turning them over. If you truly cared one iota about these animals then let them live and release them-----work conservation---without exploiting animals....perhaps then you can sleep with yourself
