Despite the best efforts of the fringe wings of both parties to force a never-ending stalemate, a bipartisan proposal to end this shutdown has been put forward and I am proud to be a part of it. Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) and Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) have put together a proposal that would keep the government running at sequester level spending, repeal the medical device tax imposed by Obamacare, and put an end to the partisan gridlock that the American people are so tired of. I came to Washington to get things done and this agreement will cut spending and repeal a job killing tax in Obamacare that is causing high tech American manufacturing jobs to go overseas. Unfortunately, there is not language in the agreement to enforce a key provision in Obamacare that requires members of Congress and their staffs to get their health insurance through the health insurance exchanges established under Obamacare. Whether we can get that passed or not, I will follow the law and give up my health insurance, refuse any subsidies, and purchase my health care through the insurance exchanges as the law intended.
