Saiyan Nahi Aye..Last Presentation Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh organised An Evening of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music by eminent Indian Classical Vocalist, Mr. Kumar Mardur, accompanied by Ms. Rupashree Bhattacharya and Mr. Sanjoy Adhikary, at 6:30 PM on March 29, 2014 at the IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1. A musician tutor and Junior Guru at ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, Mr. Kumar Mardur is a vocalist of the finest quality. He is endowed with a melodious voice and is known for his pure and aesthetic presentation of ragas, crystal clear taan patterns and a remarkable command over Laya. He hails from Dharwar and has trained in classical vocal music under his father, Pandit Somanath Mardur. He is a Master degree holder in music from Karnataka University, Dharwar. Mr. Mardur is a “B-High” grade artiste of Air India Radio and Doordarshan. An acclaimed artist, he has had numerous performances, including at the Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav in 2011. Earlier, he had a successful three-month tour of the US in 2008. He has released a number of CDs and cassettes on classical vocal music. Mr. Mardur has won numerous awards during his career which include Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Yuva Kalakar Puraskar in 2007, the Vidyasagar Award in 2006, and Yuva Gayak Puraskar. Ms. Rupashree Bhattacharya is an ITC Sangeet Research Academy Scholar and is a “B-High” graded harmonium artiste of All India Radio. She has accompanied renowned vocal artistes Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Vidushi Girija Devi, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, among others. She has also performed in several prestigious events such as ITC Sangeet Sammelan, Dover Lane Music Conference, Tansen Sangeet Sammelan etc. She is also an acclaimed solo artist who released a solo album called “Lilting Reeds” in 2013. Mr. Sanjoy Adhikary, a proficient Tabla artist, has provided skilled accompaniment to renowned musicians such as Vidushi Girija Devi, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, among others.
