Devastating to hear the news about our friend and brother-of-the-road Matt Cogley from Failsafe, who passed away this New Year. Failsafe, across countless gigs together, are some of the best friends we have ever made while being in a band, and the bonds run way past gigging acquaintances and into the realm of true friendship. The world has lost a wonderful musician and all-round great guy, who always had time to stop and speak, to smile and laugh, and help out his fellow punk rocker with some manly stuff theyre too feeble to do themselves. One thing that strikes me is that for the last four years or so, amongst all-to-brief meetings at gigs and festivals, SB6 and Failsafe have been constantly planning on going for a curry again like we did in the past. You say the words, and you want to do it, but you always think you can put it off until tomorrow. Well, tomorrow isnt guaranteed. You dont know when the last time youll see each other is. This will be a lesson to try that bit harder to see the people that matter to me as often as I can. Come to think of it, thats a pretty good New Years Resolution for us all. Goodbye Coggers, enjoy the great gig in the sky, and belt out some harmonies for us... x
